Presently, Mike Skramstad is a web administrator for an advertising firm in Long Beach, California. He performs systems administration tasks and maintains web servers that host Nissan Motors' international web sites. Additionally, he administers servers running the Day Communique content management system and Websphere, and SVN repositories. He also manages the deployment of code and content from development servers and quality assurance servers to production servers. He particularly enjoys writing deployment and app testing scripts in VBscript, C# and Perl.
His application testing suite includes process monitoring and web app testing. When a problem is detected the test software automatically fixes the problem by restarting processes or app servers to ensure that end users have an uninterrupted, satisfying experience. Since Mike doesn't like surprises, he also writes continuous build and integration scripts and Apache ANT scripts to automatically compile Java, detect errors, and install executables into application servers and, finally, verify that the code runs and verify that data submitted into a web app is correctly inserted into a SQL database.
When not programming extremely, Mike enjoys time with his family, spearfishing, surfing, and motorcycling.
